The Relentless Award's Picket Plays:
Voices From the WGA Picket Lines
On November 5, 2023, a benefit reading of The Relentless Award's Picket Plays: Voices From the WGA Picket Lines was held at Theatre Row. This special Relentless Award was created to provide financial and creative support to WGA writers during the strike. Writers were asked to submit a short play that addressed the theme of Picketing/Striking.
The six winning plays include The Scorpion Dance by Jon Haller, A Ride in the Car in the Morning by Hannah Globus, fire ants by Lily Houghton and Sofya Levitsky-Weitz, Love Your Work by Eric Pfeffinger, WILDCAT by Kristen Adele Calhoun, and Me. by Jill Twiss. The winning plays were performed by members of the Relentless Theater Company, including Emily Bergl, David Corenswet, Maddie Corman, Kevin Corrigan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, Alfie Fuller, Tavi Gevinson, Michael Godere, Hari Nef, Joshua David Robinson, Elizabeth Rodriguez, and Tramell Tillman.

The audience was greeted by Jeffrey A. Horwitz, Chairman of the Board at Building for the Arts, and David Bar Katz, Artistic Director of The American Playwriting Foundation. After the performances, awards were presented to Winners and Finalists by David Bar Katz and Anna O'Donogue, Literary Manager and Artistic Producer of the American Playwriting Foundation.
After the show, the cast and winning writers enjoyed an intimate afterparty at BEA.
